Our Approach

The message is clear: the status quo is not working and not sustainable.

Raising the Bar listened to those who give, get, and pay for healthcare, many of whom are frustrated with the current system:

  • Patients want systems that treat them with dignity and respect.
  • Hospitals and practitioners want systems that incentivize and reward whole-person care.
  • Payers want incentives or financing to help address social drivers of health.
  • Community organizations want trusting, co-equal partnerships.

To address these issues, Raising the Bar worked with healthcare leaders and those who have experienced inequities in the system to develop a holistic framework for advancing health equity and improving care quality, bringing in all roles that healthcare plays.

Raising the Bar takes a 360° perspective to health equity. It’s not just what a healthcare organization does in the community. It’s not just how it treats patients. It’s not just about the workforce. It’s about approaching its work and roles differently. And it takes strong CEO and Board leadership to get there.
